Ho ho ho...?

Did you know there are only like 136 days until Christmas?

Before we know it, it will be time to buy candy corn and candy pumpkins, put the scarecrows in the yard, switch out the wreaths from summer to fall, and start raking leaves. Then starts the sleet, the holiday music, the sales, and....

CHRISTMAS!

I can't wait =)

Do you prepare early for the holidays? I saw a news article instructing people on how to start saving pennies and spare change and things now, and have $1,000 by Christmas for shopping. Seems like a good idea! I can't stand going into debt for Christmas gifts, and the last few years we've managed to do a cash only Christmas. It's more fun having to get creative anyway!

Are you starting to smell the hot apple cider and peppermints? Or are you content sweltering in the current state of summer? ;) Are you looking forward to the coming season? Or dreading the hoopla?

Funny you bring this up today because last night I was thinking about Christmas. I've been learning to make and am getting to the point I'm good at it and have been thinking about gifts. I've been wondering if I should start looking for Christmasy colors so I have things to give at Christmas time and won't panic over making & buying things between November & december!

Betsy, yes we start preparing for Christmas really early! I count back the paycheck before Christmas and we count backwards how many people we have to buy for. Then we start that paycheck week. This year I started in April because I found a $30 game (giraffe a laugh limbo) for $6.25. My closet is full of gifts and I usually get them on clearance so we even usually come way under the "set" limit and get really nice things. We also do couple gifts for all the couples and our parents... Last year we did a cute idea for really cheap that everyone loved, we did a movie night on us. We gave a $10 gift card to Blockbuster (good for 2 new releases or a game) with the game you can see if you want to purchase those $60 games 1st. Then we put in popcorn, popcorn seasoning, cokes, candy, cappuccino mixes, hot chocolate, and some candy in cute little gift bags. Everyone loved it and we did it for six couples and each bag costs around $15. This year we are doing a game night on us, same thing but instead of a gift card we are doing party games :) I'm excited too and can't wait. We also shop early so we don't have to get out in the crazy shopping madness, we sit and enjoy our fireplace and family.
