Stealing the Preacher from Karen Witemeyer

I haven't gotten a chance to read this novel yet because of being behind on my own deadlines, but I can NOT wait. I love all of Karen's books, and how adorable is her cover? :)  I know from experience with Karen's previous novels that this one will surely be a crowd-pleaser as well. I've had the privilege of meeting Karen and teaching at writer's conferences with her, and this author knows her stuff - and knows romance.

If you're going to take a chance on an author you might not have read before, chance it on Karen!! You won't be disappointed!!

           Book Info

About Stealing the Preacher:

A cowboy who wants to be a preacher. An outlaw's daughter who wants to change his mind.
On his way to interview for a position at a church in the Piney Woods of Texas, Crockett Archer can't believe it when he's forced off the train by an outlaw and presented to the man's daughter as the preacher she requested for her birthday. He's determined to escape-which would be much easier if he could stop thinking about Joanna Robbins and her unexpected request.

For months, Joanna had prayed for a minister. A man to breathe life back into the abandoned church at the heart of her community. A man to assist her in fulfilling a promise to her dying mother. But just when it seems her prayers have been answered, it turns out the parson is there against his will and has dreams of his own calling him elsewhere. Is there any way she can convince Crockett he ended up right where he was supposed to be?

With her signature blend of humor, history, and lively western romance, two-time RITA Award finalist and bestselling author Karen Witemeyer delivers a Texas love story sure to steal your heart.

Another amazing story from Becky Wade!!!

           Book Info
About Undeniably Yours:

When Meg Cole's father dies unexpectedly, she's forced to return home to Texas and to Whispering Creek Ranch to take up the reins of his empire. The last thing she has the patience or the sanity to deal with? Her father's Thoroughbred racehorse farm. She gives its manager, Bo Porter, six months to close the place down.

Bo knows he ought to resent the woman who's determined to take from him the only job he ever wanted. But instead of anger, Meg evokes within him a profound desire to protect. The more time he spends with her, the more he longs to overcome every obstacle that separates them and earn her love.

Just when Meg realizes she can no longer deny the depth of her feelings for Bo, their fragile bond is broken by a force from Meg's past. Can their relationship-and their belief that God can work through every circumstance-survive?

Dee Henderson

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Dee Henderson is the bestselling, award-winning author of 15 previous novels, including the acclaimed O'MALLEY series and UNCOMMON HEROES series. These days, most authors are out there energetically promoting their books in print and broadcast and via social media—wherever they can get attention. But Dee Henderson keeps a low profile. She avoids telephone interviews because of hearing problems, declined to provide a current photo, and will say only that she lives in Illinois.

 ABOUT THE BOOK

It's a summer of change for Jennifer O'Malley. The busy physician has a pediatrics practice in Dallas, and meeting Tom Peterson, and falling in love, is adding a rich layer to her life. She's sorting out how to introduce him to her family--she's the youngest of seven--and thinking about marriage.

She's falling in love with Jesus too, and knows God is good. But that faith is about to be tested in a way she didn't expect, and the results will soon transform her entire family.

MY REVIEW: I love love love this entire series. They keep getting better as they go on. I've always loved family saga type historicals, where the family line/heritage continues as the story progresses. You stay so connected to the characters, and if it's a book by Susie, these characters are going to live on in your head long after "The End" anyway ;)

Susan May Warren is one of those rare finds that seems to rock any genre she attempts, and her historicals live up to the hype. You won't be disappointed! :)

A fabulous historical new read by Sarah E. Ladd!

I love historicals!

If you do too, don't miss this one. (and what a beautiful cover!) Sarah E. Ladd has written a beautiful story of intrigue and romance that touches the heart and keeps the reader flipping pages as quickly as possible. This story has a little bit of it all, and you'll want to savor it.

I can't wait to read more by this talented author!

           Book Info

About The Heiress of Winterwood: Pride goes before the fall . . . but what comes after?
Darbury, England, 1814
Amelia Barrett gave her word. Keeping it could cost her everything.
Amelia Barrett, heiress to an estate nestled in the English moors, defies family expectations and promises to raise her dying friend's baby. She'll risk everything to keep her word-even to the point of proposing to the child's father-a sea captain she's never met.
When the child vanishes with little more than an ominous ransom note hinting at her whereabouts, Amelia and Graham are driven to test the boundaries of their love for this little one.
Amelia's detailed plans would normally see her through any trial, but now, desperate and shaken, she's forced to examine her soul and face her one weakness: pride.
Graham's strength and self-control have served him well and earned him much respect, but chasing perfection has kept him a prisoner of his own discipline. And away from the family he has sworn to love and protect.
Both must learn to have faith and relinquish control so they can embrace the future ahead of them.

    Debating...need opinions!

So I'm debating deleting this blog.

I hesitate, because this is where I post book reviews, and I can't stop doing that or else I wouldn't get free books anymore ;)

But my heart is over at www.writergetsreal.blogspot.com now, and I feel like I need to focus there. Plus my group blogging once a week at www.scribblechicks.blogspot.com and twice a month at www.girlsgodgoodlife.blogspot.com  PLUS my monthly column for Nicole O'Dell's Choose Now ministry, PLUS my once a month (on average) articles for www.ibelieve.com   - something's gotta give. lol

And uh yeah I didn't even mention these things I also do like raise a child practically alone, work full time, freelance, and write books ;)  Suddenly this blog doesn't seem like much of a give-up!! snort. Hmmmm.

I feel like this blog has become random and filler and I hate to get rid of it, since I have the most followers here and its on my business cards and such. But I hardly ever get comments anymore, and I don't think I'm offering anything substantial here anyway, so I don't blame you.

    It's hard to let go.

What do you guys think? (the few of you actually reading this! LOL!)  Will you join me at www.writergetsreal.blogspot.com and come there regularly instead? For those already familiar with the heart of that blog, do you think posting book reviews there sometimes would be...offensive? Like, taking away from the heart of the blog? I don't want to do that.

Help! I just know I can't keep spreading myself so thin or I might disappear altogether.

    Random update

A little excited today (and no, not because I got new shoes. I haven't yet, and it's truly sad) ;)

    Anyway....it's because...

I'm going to my first Miranda Lambert concert tonight! Woohoo!

I've always loved her, since I first saw her singing on her debut "Me and Charlie Talking" video many moons ago. She's really developed her style since then, and while I don't carry the nearly the grudges (wink) as she does, (jk) I really enjoy her music. And like watching Blake on "The Voice" (her husband) and think they're really an entertaining couple. They seem so real, and while they aren't necessarily role models in a lot of ways, I admire their commitment to each other in today's crazy celebrity culture. Cue hearts and arrows here...

I also am friends with a girl who graduated high school with Miranda in East Texas, so that's pretty fun. She says Miranda appears to be the same way she's always been, which is also refreshing in today's Land 'O Celebrities.

Do you like Miranda? Ever seen her live? I'm polishing my boots! :)

Mama needs a new pair of shoes...

So springtime always makes me want to buy shoes.

Embroidered cowboy boots. Cute little ballet flats with polka dots. Peep-toe 4 inch heels in a solid neutral. Low-heeled open sandals with bows.

I think it's time to find a shoe sale.

What about you? Does springtime ignite the whole "new shoe" fever in you too? :)

I just finished Julie Klassen's new novel THE TUTOR'S DAUGHTER, which was fabulous!! I'll be reviewing it soon. Now I'm working on Beautiful Outlaw by John Eldredge, which is nonfiction. Also fabulous. What are you reading?

Guess what? My new release comes out April 1st - THE RANCHER NEXT DOOR - yet some people have already seen it on the shelves at Wal-mart! Cool! Hope you find one :)

Here's the first few paragraphs of the story! :)

Caley Foster really wanted to put out a fire.
Or, for that matter, do anything more exciting than unload the rest of the boxes secured in the back of her beat-up red truck.
But that wasn't going to happen today. With a resigned sigh, Caley hiked one booted foot on the tire, shimmied over the edge of the truck and landed with a thump in the bed crammed full of boxes and tubs. She'd have thought after living in nine different cities in the past three years that she'd be used to moving by now—but this time felt different. Maybe because this time, she had to stay awhile.
Too bad whoever said you can't go home again hadn't meant it literally.
Caley's two-year-old black Labrador barked at her from the driveway as she began to shove yet another box across the rusted bed toward the open tailgate. "Scooter, like I told you before, it's going to take me a while to find the dog biscuits." She grunted as the box caught on an exposed bolt, and pushed again. Some days she almost regretted rescuing the hyper stray from a warehouse fire. But it was nice to take a friendly face along on her many travels, one who actually seemed to understand her.
Scooter barked again, and she wrinkled her nose at him. "Be patient, unless you want to do this work yourself."
A sudden giggle floated on the breeze toward Caley and wrapped around her ears like a cozy set of muffs. She glanced up with surprise, midpush, just in time to see a young blonde girl perched on the fence dividing her meager property from the sprawling acres of the Double C Ranch next door—and just in time to send her cardboard box tumbling over the edge of the tailgate.
Caley winced. Hopefully that wasn't the kitchenware, though it wouldn't have been the first time after a move that she ended up at the discount store searching for dinner plates. She slid her petite frame off the tailgate and righted the box on the ground.
The girl timidly hopped off the fence and approached her. "Do you need help? Did anything break?" Her blue eyes widened with worry, and she twisted a long strand of hair anxiously around one finger as if she thought the accident was her fault.
Caley straightened and smiled at the girl, who looked about ten or eleven years old. The golden years. It was sweet of her to be concerned. "It's all good. Thankfully, this was a box of pillows." She rummaged through it one more time to be sure. "And apparently an apron. And a bird feeder." She winked. "No wonder the box wasn't labeled."

    Breakfast of champions?

    Do you eat breakfast?

They used to say that people who ate breakfast weighed less overall  but now they're changing those stats to not necessarily be true. I guess it depends - maybe people who eat a granola bar or oatmeal for breakfast vs. those who eat the Denny's Grand Slam? ;)

I usually eat a small breakfast like a granola bar or some fruit but some days skip it altogether. I love eggs and bacon and all that but just can't do it first thing in the morning. I don't like feel heavy in my stomach all day. IHOP for dinner however... haha.

What do you think? Jumpstarting your metabolism in the morning good, bad or neutral?

The best thing in life is....?

Sometimes, the best thing in life is support. Working together for a cause. And it's a lot easier to deal with our own problems when we take the time to look away from them and focus on someone else's journey.

So if you need a breather today, come check out my good friend's blog on her adoption journey.

And if you feel led to contribute financially to the cause...

    If you HAD to pick...

If you were allowed to only pick ONE major holiday to celebrate each year, which would it be? Christmas or Easter? And why?

Second question - if you were allowed to only celebrate one small holiday in ADDITION to Christmas or Easter, which would you choose? (Valentine's Day, New Years, St. Patrick's Day, 4th of July, etc.)

    GO! :)

    A day off....

Taking today off from posting because my Little Miss is testing today for Magnet - meaning her test today will determine potentially where she is going to kindergarten next Fall. EEK. When did she get this old??? Prayers appreciated for her best job. I'm proud of her regardless. She's already in the advanced gateway preschool program, so at this point, I'm just praying for God's wisdom in potentially giving us the choice to change schools next year or not. I'm happy either way!!

    Have a great week :)

    MLK all the Way....

    Happy MLK day!

I'm off work and living the high life today with Little Miss - pjs, reading, cartoons, late breakfasts, Wii bowling, Princess Dominos, and lots of snacks and Valentine candy. I think there are chicken nuggets and more cartoons in our immediate future.

    Hope you're having a good one :)

    Escape with...

Some days, you just want to escape.

NEED to, really, so you don't actually go insane.

Running away to a warm deserted beach island isn't a possibility for me today, though at this point I'm sort of like "well heck just charge that too".  (Yeah, just found out last night our heater repair in our house is going to be $948)

My friend posted on FB yesterday about how hard it was to be on bedrest (with her third child) and uncomfortable and forbidden to do anything her OCD nature demands (housework, laundry, babyroom prep, etc.) And how her nerves were shot and she needed an OCD break. I can totally relate! I told her on FB after getting the bill for the heater - "I understand. I was just thinking how great it'd feel to punch a hole in the wall, but I don't want to have to deal with sheetrock dust."  haha. Been there?

So, (as a much less messy and less painful and less expensive alternative to beach trips and wall punching)  I'm planning on escaping tonight inside a few more chapters of Carol Cox's "Love in Disguise". Fabulous historical about a Pinkerton detective who is playing the part of an older woman and a vivacious younger woman to undercover the truth about some mine thefts...and falls in love with one of her suspects who has no idea she isn't any of her roles!

Talk about bigger problems than mine  ;)

    Where do you escape?
